Seit 2018 gibt es den Verein „500 Jahre Täuferbewegung“ mit Sitz in Frankfurt am Main.  Der Verein bereitet das Täufergedenken 2025 vor. Im Blick auf das Täufergedenken 2025 werden im Vorfeld fünf Themenjahre mit unterschiedlichen Veranstaltungsformaten durchgeführt (Halbdekade). Ausstellungen, Tagungen, Publikationen, Vortragsreihen und andere Formate, die geeignet sind, die Täufergemeinden selbst und die ökumenische und gesellschaftliche Öffentlichkeit auf die Bedeutung der Täufergeschichte und der Täuferbewegung aufmerksam zu machen.

Die Themen der Halbdekaden sind:

• 2020: gewagt! mündig leben
• 2021: gewagt! gemeinsam leben
• 2022: gewagt! konsequent leben
• 2023: gewagt! gewaltlos leben
• 2024: gewagt! Hoffnung leben

Daring! 500 Years Anabaptist Movement 1525 –2025

2025 reminds those congregations and churches that have their origins in the Anabaptist movement of the sixteenth century - or others who profess a common bond - of the first Anabaptist baptism on confession of faith, which took place in Zurich at the end of January 1525. In the sixteenth century, the common name "Anabaptist" concealed a great diversity. Along with the Wittenberg and Swiss Reformation, the Anabaptists were the third stream of the Reformation. Various groups such as the Mennonites, the Hutterites, the Swiss Brethren, the Melchiorites-and many other separate, mostly smaller groups-were part of the Anabaptist movement.

"Daring! The Anabaptist Movement, 1525-2025" invites us on a five-year journey together to reflect on history, memory, tradition and heritage in order to shape today and tomorrow, and to provide ecumenical impetus. Annual booklets will be produced to stimulate reflection on the theme year in discussion groups, koinonia groups, congregations, ecumenical groups and educational institutions. Exhibitions, materials for schools and educational institutions, and conferences will illustrate and deepen the engagement with the past 500 years of Anabaptist history.
